Capturing the moment can be a make or break instant in time that can determine how we remember an event. In 2018 , we captured a lot of amazing and intense moments like holiday parades, sporting events, and graduations that summed up a year full of excitement and life-changing events. During October, Breast Cancer Awareness becomes a cause at the top of mind for many individuals and organizations. On Monday afternoon, La Porte Hospital joined those ranks and hosted their first annual Blow Away Breast Cancer event to honor those affected by breast cancer, whether they be survivors, recently diagnosed, family, or caregivers.
For the last seventeen years, the La Porte community has gathered together to support healthcare activism by participating in the the Tour de La Porte, an event filled with cycling, running, and walking. All participants, the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, and other organizations work together to raise money to fund and support cancer patients in the area.
Saturday night, spectators and patrons made their way down to Franklin Street in Michigan City to enjoy the annual Taste of Michigan City with live bands, food vendors, and a sneak preview of Sunday's Grand Prix Boat Races.
While the temperatures outside crept lower and lower, family and friends of the La Porte High School Music Department felt the warmth of the holiday season at this year’s Winter Choral Concert. Although the Winter Choral Concert is an annual tradition for La Porte High School, the venue this year was a big change. Previously performed in the school’s old auditorium, this year’s concert was the first to be held in the new Performing Arts Center of La Porte High School. The gorgeous venue amplified the beauty of the concert. There wasn’t a bad seat in the house as the community came together to enjoy the performance.
