This is the first event Housing Opportunities and Northwest Indiana Community Action have put on together since they merged in August 2023.

“Our team won because each member brought a different set of skills. Much like the merger of NWICA and Housing Opportunities,” said Jim Starin, NWICA Board Member and HO Board Chair. “Each contributes to a synergy greater than either could accomplish alone.”

The funds raised will go directly to resolve and prevent homelessness, making a tangible difference in the lives of those in need. The success of Trivia Night underscores the community's commitment to supporting important causes and their willingness to go the distance for those in need.

“We produce and develop affordable housing, homeless services, shelter, and provide support services for people who are experiencing homelessness,” said Chief Housing Officer Jordan Stanfill. “This fundraiser has helped us sustain that. It takes a lot to operate and build new affordable housing projects. Currently, we have more than 60 units that are in various phases of construction.”

In 2023, NWICA was able to house over 1,000 households, and the funds from Trivia Night will help to keep that momentum. There is still a need for 12,000-16,000 affordable housing units for Northwest Indiana residents, and NWICA is working hard to raise funding and bring awareness to this need.

Northwest Indiana Community Action extends its thanks to all attendees, sponsors and volunteers for their incredible support. Plans are already underway for next year’s event, promising to be more exciting and impactful.

"We're thrilled with the turnout and the amount raised," said Andrew Prentice, lead organizer of the event and NWICA’s Development Manager. "The support from the community has been incredible, and we're grateful for everyone who participated and donated."
