Hanna Lions Club Urges Citizens to Look Toward “Hanna Tomorrow”

hanna-tomorrowAll citizens of the Hanna community are urged to attend a town meeting on January 13 at 5:30 pm at the Hanna United Methodist Church Hall. The Hanna Lions Club is sponsoring a series of community conversations called Hanna Tomorrow to take a strategic look at the community and map a direction toward a prosperous future. Students from the community are also invited. Food and drink from Rumors will be served. There is no charge to participate. The Hanna Lions received a grant from the Unity Foundation to help fund the meetings. All households in the 46340 zip code area are welcome.

“The Hanna Lions Club is concerned about the future of our little community, and we want to do something constructive to see it thrive, so we are taking responsibility for mapping out a direction to move forward”, says Hanna Lions member, Jim Jessup. The first meeting will explore what local citizens value in their community, its assets and challenges, and prioritize possible projects. Topics such as incorporation, sewers, town betterment groups, sensible growth, and community pride will be discussed.

Future meetings will be held on Feb. 3 and March 10. “At these meetings we want to pick projects, goals, and work groups, and start the process to actually do something,” Jessup added. “We are hoping that 30-50 people get involved in the process. It is vital to our survival as a community,” he concluded.

Everyone in Hanna is invited to enjoy some food and lively discussions on January 13. For more information or questions contact Jim Jessup at 219-797-4407 or jimjessup@frontier.com.
