In 2008, Jason DeMeyer graduated from Purdue North Central with a bachelor's degree in Building Construction Management and Civil Engineering Technology. During his senior year, he accepted an offer from D.A. Dodd Mechanical Contractors as an intern.
Through the years, DeMeyer continued to grow his career with D.A. Dodd, and in 2020 he was promoted to company president. As D.A. Dodd’s President, DeMeyer oversees the operations at the company's three locations, which offer plumbing, mechanical, and sheet metal services and new construction throughout northern Indiana and southern Michigan. Facing a pandemic in his first quarter as president was concerning at the time, but reflecting back, he realized so much was learned that would help D.A. Dodd succeed stronger and more equipped for the future.
Recently, DeMeyer finished his tenure with the Saint Joseph Valley as their Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC) and Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) chapter president. After holding that title for two years, DeMeyer is appreciative to have had the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than himself.
“It was a really rewarding and interesting term due to the pandemic. I got to work with a lot of industry leaders,” said DeMeyer.
Since his term is up, DeMeyer is now the treasurer for the PHCC and MCAA committees. That consists of keeping up to date with the local unions and making sure reports are filed as necessary while reporting funds.
Outside of his professional roles, DeMeyer sits on the school board for New Prairie United School Corporation. He feels strongly about doing whatever he can to make tomorrow's youth successful. Recently, DeMeyer was elected to serve another four-year term on the school board after running a great candidacy in the previous term. With this new re-election, DeMeyer is glad to have another four years to help out today’s tomorrow.
“My goal is to be part of something that can make a difference and give every student the opportunity to learn and have an education and a successful life,” DeMeyer said.
As for his involvement with the school board, DeMeyer decided to join due to the fact that he wanted to give back to his community. He is a legacy member. DeMeyer decided that with his presidency at D.A. Dodd, he would be able to help out the school in more ways than one.
The board holds monthly meetings that meet with the public to decide what the New Prairie school system will implement whether that be executive, financial, or public.
When DeMeyer is off the clock, he enjoys spending time with his family. They frequently travel to horse shows where his daughters and wife compete in a variety of events. He enjoys raising his family on the family farm, caring for livestock, constructing his own personal projects, watching “Yellowstone,” and sitting on the La Porte County Beef Committee.
