WRESTLING Crown Point Regionals 2022
Published: February 5, 2022The Crown Point Bulldogs won the Wrestling Regionals hosted in their home gym on Saturday, claiming their 4th straight team championship.
The match of the day belonged to Crown Point’s Will Clark who defeated his Chesterton rival Gage DeMarco in a 9-7 decision to claim the individual 195 title. It was a redemption bout for Clark, who lost to DeMarco by major decision at last year’s Regional.
“I’m feeling good,” Clark said. “Last year, I just couldn’t beat him. This year, I did a lot of offseason wrestling and it made me so much better, so much more confident. Going in and having to wrestle him, I was nervous, but I just wrestled and felt a lot better this year.”
This year’s group of Bulldogs swept their Sectional, dominated today’s Regional, and are looking to make a mark at next weekend’s Semi-State Tournament in East Chicago.
“This is the best team I’ve ever been a part of, the best in school history,” Clark said. “It’s crazy to be a part of a team like this, it’s so much fun. All the guys – I’m going to be friends with them for a long time.”
