Health Foundation of La Porte funds CPR training event 2024
Published: November 18, 2024On Tuesday, November 12, Erik Jedrysek, chief of training at La Porte Fire Station #1, led cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) training for employees of several La Porte County-based organizations. 12 employees from organizations like Hotspot Cafe, Mucho Mas! Cali Mex Grill, Healthy Life La Porte, and Anam Cara Stables – an equine therapy organization based in Rolling Prairie – received their American Heart Association certifications in Heartsaver CPR and AED techniques.
Every month, Jedrysek and his fellow firefighters lead free CPR certification classes for community members at La Porte Fire Station #1 funded by the Health Foundation of La Porte (HFL). The employee CPR training event was sponsored by the Play for Jake Foundation, which promotes heart health among youth in the community.
“This is a great event for the community and I’m glad to be a part of it,” Jedrysek said. “I’m glad that HFL and the Play for Jake Foundation are helping us educate the community about CPR.”
