Valpo Parks, Valpo Parks Foundation, and the City of Valparaiso invite the community to a heartfelt Memorial Day service honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our nation.
Commemoration Details:

- Location: Service Memorial at Foundation Meadows Park, Valparaiso, IN (3210 N. Campbell St.)
The ceremony will pay tribute to our local fallen heroes with a solemn display of patriotism and gratitude. The program includes:
- Posting of the Colors: A presentation of the American flag by Valparaiso Police and Fire honor guards.
- Pledge of Allegiance
- Welcome and Recognition: Warm words of welcome and appreciation for our veterans and their families from Mayor Jon Costas.
- Guest Speaker: Vietnam Veteran Dr. Robert Shankland will share his perspective on the significance of Memorial Day and the importance of honoring our fallen veterans.
- Community Remembrance: A heartfelt recitation of the names inscribed on the Duty and Sacrifice monument at the Service Memorial.
- Laying of the Wreaths: Dr. Robert Shankland, Mayor Jon Costas and Daughters of the American Revolution.
- Benediction: John Seibert
- Taps: Chris Hammer
- Retiring of the Colors: Valparaiso Police and Fire honor guards.
