With nearly 1 in 3 Indiana high school students (29.3%) feeling sad or hopeless almost every day for at least 2 weeks, according to the Indiana State Department of Health, we as a community must come together to support our youth. By understanding the prevalence of suicide and exploring the elevated risk factors in today’s climate, we can identify ways to better prevent youth suicides.
Eric Evans is a Certified Prevention Specialist and serves as the Director of Prevention Services at Geminus Corporation. There, Mr. Evans provides oversight to multiple grant funded initiatives focusing on suicide prevention, mental health promotion, substance misuse prevention, and LGBTQ competency. Mr. Evans provides trainings to local school districts, community stakeholders, social service agencies, and throughout the US. The most important role for Mr. Evans is that of father to his two young kids.
