La Porte County Youth “Do Good” For Food Bank Of Northern Indiana

La Porte County Youth “Do Good” For Food Bank Of Northern Indiana

Event Information

4:26pm - 4:26pm

The La Porte County Public Library recently challenged community youth to “do good” and read or listen to reading a total of 250,000 minutes during the month of May. If they met this goal, the Friends of the La Porte County Public Library would donate $1,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.

Local youth rose to the challenge and met this goal with ease! With some kids logging over a thousand minutes a day, 266,742 was the final tally of minutes read or listening to reading.

The La Porte County Public Library would like to thank community members for their support in helping youth reach this goal. Many volunteered to be guest readers which allowed us to promote listening to reading as well as keeping children connected with familiar faces in the community, such as school staff.

To celebrate reaching our goal, the library will be streaming a Facebook Live special event on Wednesday, June 3 at 9:00am CST. Andrew Grimm, President of the Friends of the La Porte County Public Library will virtually present a $1,000 check to Marijo Martinec, Executive Director and CEO of the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. Tune in and help us recognize the accomplishments of area youth!
