Join the City of La Porte Park and Recreation Department and Healthcare Foundation of La Porte for a dedication celebration of the Kesling Park disc golf course from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, October 16. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 11:15 at the first hole (just east of the 18th Street parking lot), followed by a skills clinic for anyone interested in learning how to play disc golf. The celebration will also include music, refreshments, and giveaways.
The nine-hole course was designed and installed by Brian Cummings, a member of the Professional Disc Golf Association Hall of Fame. Cummings has designed several disc golf courses throughout the region and has played in tournaments across the country. Local disc golf enthusiasts contributed to the design and volunteered with the course installation.
The Healthcare Foundation of La Porte funded the course installation. HFL is a nonprofit, independent, private foundation dedicated to empowering our residents to live healthy and well in and around La Porte. The foundation envisions partnering with many types of community organizations through thoughtful grantmaking to build a healthier community together. HFL is committed to supporting health and wellness programs and services to achieve the vision of La Porte becoming one of the top 10 healthiest communities in Indiana.
