Youth Advocates Sworn In

CAYA-Oct-30-2013LaPorte County Juvenile Court Magistrate Nancy Gettinger swore in the first group of Court Appointed Youth Advocates (CAYA) on October 30 to begin their efforts to support the best interest of those youth who are involved in the juvenile justice system due to delinquent acts by promoting educational, employment, positive peer relationships, life skills and other short-term goals.

Ten volunteers completed comprehensive training to bring understanding about the juvenile justice and probation system as well as factors that contribute to youth delinquency. Ongoing workshops will provide additional tools to assist in making a positive impact on struggling community youth.
