Xfinity Stores provide connection beyond the internet

Xfinity’s reach in Northern Indiana is impressive. In this region alone, Comcast has more than 10,000 miles of network lines and other infrastructure, including 150,000 WiFi hotspots; serves hundreds of thousands of customers in nearly 100 communities; and has 250 employees working in 18 engineering, office, warehouse, technical operations and retail facilities.

Comcast’s Regional Vice President of Sales, Lisette Martinez, oversees a large network of Xfinity Stores spanning three states, including stores in Elkhart, Hammond, Granger, Merrillville and Valparaiso.

“I was involved in the opening of our first store in the tri-state area in Schaumburg, IL, a few years back,” Martinez said. “Now, we have 48 stores and counting, including five right here in Northern Indiana, and I’m proud to see how far they’ve come.”

Martinez explained the idea behind Xfinity Stores: Customers can come to the stores not only to learn about and test Xfinity offerings, they can upgrade their equipment and get assistance from trained, knowledgeable sales and service consultants. The goal: Give customers an awesome experience and, at the same time, build personal relationships with them and, more broadly, with the communities the company serves.

Martinez noted that when customers come to an Xfinity Store, they’re interacting with “people who work and live in their own communities,” often their friends and their neighbors. “One of the things our customers are most pleased about is the face-to-face interaction in our stores. Some of our customers even know our employees by their first names” and vice versa.

Xfinity Stores give customers the chance to experience Xfinity products and services firsthand, and employees can educate them about all their features and benefits.

In addition to high-speed Internet, cable TV and home security and automation products and services, Xfinity Stores also showcase Xfinity Mobile, the company’s mobile phone service, which carries the latest iPhone and iPad models, Android devices and even smart watches.

“We carry the most popular products on the market,” Martinez said. “In a market with a significant number of competitors, customers look for choice and value.”

Martinez explained that Xfinity Mobile offers Unlimited data for $30 a line per month when customers get four lines. Customers can mix and match between Unlimited or By-the-Gig shared data and can switch back and forth on any line at any time. In addition, Xfinity’s Bring Your Own Device program allows customers to bring in their own phones and switch to Xfinity Mobile. For more information on compatible phones and the latest offers, Martinez suggests customers visit a local Xfinity Store or go online at www.xfinitymobile.com.

Martinez also noted that Comcast is participating in the federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible low-income households a credit of up to $30/month towards Internet and mobile services. Customers can visit www.xfinity.com/acp for more information, to determine if their eligible and learn how to enroll in the program. Customers also can visit a Northern Indiana Xfinity Store for more information on Xfinity services participating in ACP.

“Personal connections are really important in business,” Martinez said. “The ability to work directly with our customers resonates with our employees. They feel like they’re really making a difference in our customers' lives.”
