Workshop Explores Why Cash is King

Gary-brownleeNW-ISBDC business advisor Gary Brownlee will present “Cash is King … How to make it work in your business!” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday April 23 at Ivy Tech Community College Michigan City Pejic Campus, 3714 Franklin St.

Sponsored by First Trust Credit Union and Ivy Tech Community College, the workshop will focus on defining cash flow, explanation of commonly used financial terms, and demystifying balance sheet statements. It will also delve into cash flow “levers,” the importance of segregating personal and business revenues and expenses as well as why cash flow matters to lenders/investors.

Jo Ann Stokum, commercial business director for First Trust Credit Union, understands how tough it is to be a small business in today’s ever-changing economy and is pleased to be co-sponsoring such an important workshop for small business entrepreneurs.

“Many of my clients are terrific at what they do but lack a framework for understanding their cash flow — and projecting future cash flows based on their plans,” Brownlee added. “I hope that we can help business owners become better attuned to the impacts of their decisions and plans on their cash needs.”

The fee is $10 and pre-registration and pre-payment are required. To register, visit www.nwisbdc.org, click on seminars and events, select “Northwest” under centers, the workshop and follow instructions or call (219) 644-3513.
