WHAM! After midnight bike ride returns

Hammond Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Port Authority are proud to announce that the 9th Annual WHAM! (Whiting, Hammond, Highland and Munster) After Midnight Bike Ride will take place on Saturday, August 8 into Sunday August 9 at the Wolf Lake Pavilion.  Onsite registration and shirt pick-up will begin at 9:00 p.m.  Please register for a wave to ensure social distancing.

This year’s event will not have an entry fee.  However, we encourage participants to sign-up online at whamride.com.  T-shirts will be available for presale at whamride.com until Thursday, July 30th.   There will be LIMITED shirts available for purchase on the day of the event on a first come first served basis.  Shirts will be available for pick-up or purchase from 9pm-midnight (or while supplies last) the night of the event. 

Riders will enjoy a 32-mile-long, or 10-mile-short scenic route.  The ride begins and ends at Hammond’s iconic Wolf Lake Pavilion. Ride along the majestic shores of Lake Michigan, and enjoy the tranquility of both Wolf and George Lake in Hammond. See firsthand, Hammond, Whiting, Munster, and Highland’s spectacular parks, neighborhoods and bike trails. 

“We’ve had to cancel many of our events this year due to the pandemic,” stated Mayor McDermott.  “WHAM! is an event we can have while also practicing social distancing.  Bring the whole family out for an enjoyable night.”
