Westville_native_inducted_into_Army_Spor-1Bill Hannon graduated from Westville High School in 1950 after leading the Blackhawks to a 19-5 record, the county tourney championship, and co-champions of the county conference. Bill also was the leading scorer in LaPorte County in 1950.

He then played basketball for Army while attending West Point Academy. He was the first Army player to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. He led the nation in rebounding in 1952 while averaging 20.9 rebounds per game. He graduated from West Point as Army's career leading scorer and rebounder. He served multiple tours of duty and retired from the U.S. Army as a colonel.

Bill is one of the key people featured in the book, "Season of Upsets," about the 1950 Indiana high school basketball season set in LaPorte County.

I attached a photo of Bill cutting down the net at the 1950 LaPorte County Tourney. If you'd like more information, send me a message.
