Did someone say color walk?!
In celebration of the event's 20th anniversary, Sojourner Truth House (STH) is adding some color to this year’s Walk for STH by hosting a color walk! Proceeds support the mission of Sojourner Truth House to provide hope and help to thousands of homeless and at-risk women and their children.
STH encourages participants to invite friends, family, and neighbors to join in making a difference in the community. Forming your own team can make fundraising even better! There is no registration fee, but each walker is asked to raise or donate at least $100. Participants who raise $100 or more will receive an official Walk for Sojourner Truth House t-shirt!
Background
Since 1997, Sojourner Truth House has helped thousands of homeless and at-risk women and their children through their services. As a result of their resources, they’re able to provide food, shelter, and programs, that help thousands of families in the Region.
The center is sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and receives additional support from the Congregation of St. Agnes. STH helps women from 18 to 76 years of age who have typically been victims of domestic violence and bear the symbols of physical and/or emotional abuse. The need for assistance is critical.
Why walk?
When someone comes to Sojourner Truth House (STH) for help, most are ashamed of their circumstances. They wonder how the basics of life have escaped them through their difficult time. STH workers and volunteers welcome and promise to treat every client with honor and respect. Each case is customized around the individual to provide them with needed tools to begin the process of overcoming homelessness and start rebuilding their lives. You can participate in the walk as a sponsor, individual, or as part of a team.

The itinerary
- 8 am – Registration opens
- 8:45 am - Walk warm-ups
- 9:00 am - The Walk for STH begins (A color-free walk route is also available)
- 9:30 am - Optional tours of Sojourner Truth House
- 10:00 am - Finish Fest Celebration
- 11:00 am The Walk for STH concludes
