With a little more than a week remaining until the Michigan City Area Schools City-wide Back to School Rally, organizers are in need of volunteers to assist with the event. The rally will take place Thursday, August 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Elston Middle School (Gill Field).
Some 1,800 backpacks filled with school materials will be distributed during the rally to students who are in need (a parent or guardian must be present). Donations for the School Supply Drive can be made through Aug. 12 at locations throughout Michigan City. Collection bins will be taken to Elston Middle School’s Meer Gym on Tuesday, August 13and backpacks will be assembled the following day.
