Volunteer Your Time with Meals on Wheels and Make a Difference

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-LogoMeals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals in your own community Monday through Friday. Why not join us for new volunteer training/orientation on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 10:00am, or on Thursday, July 21, 1:00 pm? Training is held in our Community Room at 8446 Virginia Street, Merrillville. We are currently recruiting drivers/delivery volunteers in the Merrillville and Hammond communities. The Merrillville communities have 5 routes which requires 25 volunteers to cover every week.

There are 8 routes in Hammond and we have some volunteers delivering more than one route. Others are delivering two or more days per week. Why not join your neighbors and make a difference in not only our client’s day but yours too? Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,500 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers helps us meet our goal of providing proper nutrition to those in need throughout Lake County. We are recruiting new drivers to assist us in these three communities.”

Interested candidates will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the different volunteer opportunities we have available.
