New Program Catalog Tells All You Need to Know
Hot off the presses from Quality Impressions in Crown Point, the Valparaiso Campus has a brand-new Program Catalog for the upcoming 2022-23 Academic Year. This 164-page publication covers everything a future student may want to know about any of our 38 local programs. Two pages are dedicated to each program track, showcasing the curriculum, career opportunities, salary outlook and more for each of the programs offered. With an introduction and campus overview from Chancellor Aco Sikoski, this book is also a great resource for any member of the community who would like to learn more about their local Ivy Tech Community College locations, which include the Valparaiso Campus and Michigan City and La Porte sites. Printed copies of the catalog are available upon request, and a digital version of the catalog can be read on our IvyExplore webpage.

Admissions: “Become an Advocate Within Our Schools”
Rachel Scanlon, assistant director of admissions, made Ivy Tech Community College proud last month as she was a speaker at the Indiana Association of College Admissions Counseling (INACAC) Conference in Indianapolis. She presented on “Becoming a Change Advocate.” Rachel continues to be a significant voice at the state level for college admissions.
“I spoke about becoming an advocate within our schools, organizations, government and communities,” Rachel said. She presented with Jacob Sweet, senior admissions counselor at Manchester University, and Brandon Curry, assistant director of recruitment and admissions at Indiana University – Fort Wayne. They spoke to admissions and high school counselors from across the state and had more than fifty people in attendance for their session.
Spring Fundraiser for Students Coming This Weekend
The Ivy Tech Foundation is hosting the eighteenth annual Spring Fundraiser! The event is being accompanied by an online auction beginning Tuesday, April 5 and ending the evening of April 10. Auction items were donated by Ivy Tech Faculty and Staff as well as businesses across Northwest Indiana. To view and bid on items, visit https://event.gives/ivyauction2022.

“The mission of the Ivy Tech Foundation is to invest in our students, thus building stronger communities and supporting economic growth,” Hall said. “I continue to have the privilege of hearing from students who are directly impacted by various circumstances, even before COVID, and who were given the opportunity to complete their studies as a result of this fundraising initiative. COVID did not cancel education. It just caused us to rethink how we do business. This event is a triple win. It supports students, supports our local venues, and allows our friends to have a lovely meal with a small gathering in the convenience of their own home.”
Campus Cupboard and Career Closet open to students
Developed at the Michigan City Site by the Diversity Council spearheaded by Vesna Tanaskoski, the Campus Cupboard and Career Closet is open to all students who need anything from a quick snack to a wardrobe for an interview. The following is a message from the Council of Diversity, Equity and Belonging:
We are pleased to introduce the Campus Cupboard and Career Closet at the Ivy Tech Michigan City Site as a free resource to students.
We aim to provide things that students might need and that would be helpful to the on-the-go student such as snacks, school supplies, toiletries and career clothing.
The Campus Cupboard and Career Closet is located on the main floor across from classroom #238 at the Michigan City Site.
We ask that students take only what they need so that we can keep this free resource going. Donations are also accepted. Food and supplies have to be brand-new, store-bought and sealed. Career clothing has to be like new and laundered.

It’s hard to believe, but Ivy Tech is already gearing up for another Spring commencement in-person at the Valparaiso Campus. Our students have been working extra hard, especially over the past few years, to reach this moment of their graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 14 at 10:30 a.m. As the Valparaiso chancellor, I will be walking with them at our main campus, and I couldn’t be prouder to do so.
