Valparaiso Police Swears-in New Officer

The Valparaiso Police Department has added an additional officer with the swearing-in of Landon Cornell on July 17, 2023. Chief Andrew McIntyre performed the ceremony within the council chambers of City Hall, with numerous officers, civilian staff, family, and friends present to witness the event. During the ceremony, Chief McIntyre welcomed Cornell and his family into the Valparaiso Police Department, while recognizing Cornell’s efforts throughout the hiring process.

Cornell is a 2006 graduate of Warsaw High School and earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree from Ivy Tech Community College in 2006. Cornell arrives in Valparaiso with police experience, having worked for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department as jailer (2020-2021) and Patrol Deputy (2021-2023). He further served a Reserve Police Officer with the Syracuse (IN) Police Department from 2019-2021.
