The Valparaiso Police Department is honored to announce the promotion of Ben Teufel to Patrol Sergeant. Teufel is a 6-year veteran of law enforcement, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 2008-2017 as a 3rd Class Petty Officer/Maritime Enforcement Specialist, prior to joining VPD.
Teufel has further performed as a Field Training Officer, Emergency Medical Responder, Firearms Instructor, and as part of the Porter County Highway Interdiction Team during his career. He is a 2008 graduate of Metamora Township High School (IL) and attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center as part of his military instruction.
