Design development for Artspace Uptown Artist Lofts is in process as we prepare for the start of construction in early 2015. Construction is anticipated to take approximately fourteen months. Commercial space and live/work units should be move-in ready by the spring or summer of 2015. Sample renderings and a building fly-through created by Kil Architecture & Planning are now available here.
Artspace staff is pleased to announce that we have selected local contractor Tonn and Blank Construction to renovate the Warren Building. Tonn and Blank's expertise in construction will greatly aid the design team as they develop drawings and finalize the construction budget.
President and CEO of Tonn and Blank, Jon Gilmore recently said "Tonn and Blank is excited to be selected to transform the Warren Building into the Artspace Uptown Artist Lofts. By restoring this historic and aging building, we will be able to help create a sustainable and vibrant downtown which will have a great impact on the City of Michigan City."
Residential leasing information sessions will start in the fall of 2015. Artspace will send an update next summer when dates have been set. Visit the website to view floor plans and rent and income limits here.
A commercial leasing information session is scheduled for July 24, 2014 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts. The primary focus of the meeting will be to discuss the process of leasing commercial space at Artspace Uptown Artist Lofts, and staff will also discuss brief updates to the schedule and the residential leasing process.
