Two Marquette Catholic High School Students Named as National Merit Commended Students

mqt-students-commended-fall-2014Marquette Catholic High School is pleased to announce that two members of the class of 2015 have been named as National Merit Commended Students.

These students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry. High performers on the SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test are now being named as Commended Students on the basis of a national selection index score, applicable to all program participants. Students, who scored at or above the commended level, but below their state or selection unit's Semifinalist qualifying score, are Commended Students.

Marquette Catholic High School congratulates seniors T. Luke Cloninger and Patrick McDonnell.

Luke is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Cloninger of Michigan City. Luke graduated from St. Patrick School in Chesterton, Indiana. He is a member of the Michigan City Robotics Team, Science Olympiad and Academic Superbowl Teams. He is a member of National Honor Society and student government and is involved in the drama department. Patrick is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Barry McDonnell. Patrick graduated from Queen of All Saints School in Michigan City, Indiana. He is a member of the tennis and golf teams. Patrick is involved with the drama department and is the school's media specialist. He is a member of National Honor Society and of student government.

The National Merit Scholarship Administration states, "We have great respect for the important part Marquette Catholic High School plays in the development of academically talented young people, and it is a genuine pleasure for NMSC for join them in honoring these able students."
