Two Educational Programs Scheduled for April 9

Purdue-ExtensionDealing with the Loss of a Spouse - We are rarely emotionally or financially prepared for the loss of a spouse or loved one. Adding to the inner turmoil are concerns of financial matters that must be dealt with immediately. Join Annetta Jones, Purdue Extension Educator and Andrew Lucas, Estate Attorney in a program that will help you understand the financial matters that will need to be addressed immediately. The program will be presented on April 9, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road, Valparaiso, IN.

Immediately following, please join us for: Enjoying Food for 1 or 2 – With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, sometimes we find that we are too exhausted to cook a meal for ourselves, especially after a long day at work. Spaghetti is messy and no one wants to do higher math to figure out how to scale down recipes to create a meal for one or two people. Learn how to prepare a flavorful meal quickly and easily – for one or two! Join Corinne Powell, Purdue Extension Educator to learn how to cook smaller and healthier meals, and to learn the nutritional needs of older adults as well as tips to prepare those meals. The program begins at 11:00 am on April 9 at the Expo Center.

These programs are sponsored by the Porter County Extension Homemakers. Please call the Porter County Extension Office at 465-3555 to pre-register. There is no fee required, and the public is invited to attend. If you have a disability that requires special assistance for your participation, please contact Purdue Cooperative Extension Service, Porter County Office at (219) 465-3555.
