Tuesday Give Back events at Patrick’s Grille create happy holidays for local community

When you build success and then make a conscious decision to share it far and wide, you’re part of what makes a community whole, and better overall.

Patrick’s Grille in Michigan City embodies this, even more so with their new Tuesday Giveback events, when 10 percent of total regular dining room sales on Tuesdays will be donated to local not-for-profits.

It’s a good feeling that you can visit a locally owned fine dining restaurant with handcrafted menu items, knowing that, with every yummy bite, you’re also giving back to the community, especially in an era when social awareness and stewardship seems to be of rising importance to all generations.

“Our community has always been very important to Patrick and our staff,” said Julie Krause, catering and events manager. “Patrick is a native of Michigan City and has always believed it is a great destination spot and a favorite for locals. We are excited to be part of Michigan City and look forward to serving our community for years to come.”

November’s Tuesday Giveback charities of choice are the Michigan City Police Department’s Shop with the Cops program, and the La Porte Jaycees Deserving Children’s Shopping Tour. Both provide holiday gifts and festive shopping experiences for at-risk children and individuals with special needs in the community.

“We chose these charities to start the Tuesday Giveback program because it’s a fun time of year to participate in these particular fundraisers,” Krause said. “Our staff has volunteered through the years with both organizations, and we strongly support the work they do for our community.”

Michigan City Police Sgt. Chris Yagelski said he wasn’t surprised to learn that Patrick’s would be giving back this season.

“Every time we have turned to Patrick’s Grille, they have been there for us. Julie and her team are just fantastic to work with, and they have been so generous,” Yagelski said.

Over the years, Patrick’s Grille has supported the police department’s fundraising efforts for a new police canine and has provided food for the Citizens Police Academy, among other initiatives.

Yagelski said the Tuesday Giveback proceeds will help a cause close to his heart.

“Every year, it’s so rewarding to see the children’s faces light up. They’re able to pick out gifts for the holidays, and many of them choose to shop for their family members as well,” he said. “This is really what Christmas is all about.”

To participate in the Patrick’s Grille Tuesday Giveback program, simply stop by the restaurant on a Tuesday and order your favorite meal! Popular dinner appetizes include shrimp cocktail with their own handcrafted spicy cocktail sauce, or the oyster shooters, a treat that is surprisingly excellent for a non-seaside restaurant. Patrick’s Grille also is well-known for a perfectly cooked steak, and massive entrée salads with unique flair. For more information, check out their menu online. Patrick’s Grille is located at 4125 S. Franklin St., Michigan City. Tuesday hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., for the bar (note: alcohol sales not included in Tuesday Giveback event); 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. for lunch; and 4-9 p.m. for dinner.
