The 14th Annual Tour De La Porte kicked off on a beautiful Saturday Morning with a half marathon, 10K, and 5K running race, followed by bike trials at noon. And while the participants were certainly running for their own health, what was really on their minds was running for the health of others.

A big deal in the La Porte community, we also continued to make it a big deal this year.

We were there to photograph all of the hard working runners from Northwest Indiana, and the hard work they put towards the invitational clearly translates through the gallery.

Of all the events we see throughout the year, graduations and commencements are the ones that most embody our good news mission.

To see all the hard work put in and out of the classroom by students, parents, teachers, coaches, families and friends culminate in one event, with everyone across the school celebrating the same thing, it's just awesome.

The first football game of the season, a game between cross country rivals La Porte and New Prairie, is always going to be a dozy. This game once again put the coveted milk jug up for grabs, as it was in the hands of La Porte.

And it stayed in the hands of La Porte with their win over their neighbors. The tense, and exciting, game is depicted through the pages of the gallery - from a fantastic start to finish.

Sometimes, hosting an event is a great way to give back, and in the case of Michigan City’s Mayors Ball, it was the perfect opportunity to do so. Earlier on in the year, Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer and his wife Agnes hosted the 2015 ‘Starry Nights’ Mayors Ball at Blue Chip Casino’s Stardust Event Center to raise money for two vital Michigan City non-profit organizations. They ended up raising $40,000.

The LPHS football team has overcome obstacles that some might call extremely challenging, but instead of giving up, they pushed through and worked tirelessly towards an outstanding season. Together as a team, they earned a record of 7-7, which led them to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where they competed against Indianapolis Cathedral at State.

Although they did not come out with a win, these Semi-State champs were honored for their impressive season by a ring ceremony held in the Slicer gym.

The La Porte High School Cheerleaders didn’t let the rain stop them on Saturday morning from holding their Slicer Color Run for Fun. It was a 5K run/walk to generate funds for the squad beginning and ending at La Porte’s beautiful Stone Lake Beach.

Runners braved the chilly temperatures and, at times, heavy showers as they made their way up and down hills and through wooded areas trying to get their best possible time or to simply enjoy a brisk morning walk.
