La Porte County YMCA Andrew Ave. Facility

In May of 2013 the La Porte County YMCA broke ground on a new facility on Andrew Ave. 8.5 acres of land was donated to build this facility, which was finished in just five months. Ideas in Motion Media recently visited the Andrew Ave. facility to see what others can expect. We talked to Executive Director and CEO Cindy Berchem, Cindy's husband Don Berchem, a.k.a. 'Pizza', Marketing Director Vanessa Maher, and Sports Coordinator Tara Buchanan about all the positive developments and programs that are happening here now.

United Way of La Porte County 9th Annual Sullair Golf Outing

It was a bright and sunny Monday afternoon on the green, at Pottawattomie Country Club in Michigan City. The country club played host to the 9th Annual United Way Golf Outing, for the La Porte County division of the United Way. 144 golfers showed up, ready to enjoy the day's activities.

Mayor Milo shares about the GLEDC team's partnership with the city having given rise to game-changing projects in the city of La Porte and her vision for the community to believe, take action and achieve goals among much more regarding the upcoming developments in the city.

 

Made in La Porte County 2013

Manufacturing companies from all over La Porte County gathered at the Civic Auditorium Friday morning to show off the area's impressive trade industry. As the third "Made in La Porte" trade show, this year's event was the largest yet. Approximately 50 different companies participated and over 700 students from local area schools attended the show in addition to the general public. Sponsored by the Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation (GLEDC) and the Michigan City Economic Development Corporation (EDC), the event represented a collaborative effort between the cities and townships of La Porte County to educate students, bring awareness to the public, and provide an atmosphere for companies to build relationships with one another.
