Top 10 Finish for La Lumiere Student Cassidy Dye in Indiana’s 2013 Poetry Out Loud Championship

Cassidy-Dye-LPHS-Poetry-Out-LoudOn Saturday, February 23, students from 24 schools competed in Indianapolis for top honors at the 2013 Indiana Poetry Out Loud recitation contest. Junior Cassidy Dye of La Porte, La Lumiere's second consecutive state finalist in the national Poetry Out Loud competition, earned a top ten finish with her recitations of poems by Carl Sandburg and John Donne.

Through the process of choosing, interpreting, memorizing, and declaiming great poems, the competition offers over 365,000 high school students the chance to share their love of literature and to build confidence in themselves as public speakers.
