County Park Superintendent Departs from La Porte County with a Lasting Legacy

La-Porte-ParksTim Morgan, Superintendent of the La Porte County Park Department, is leaving his post after 22 years of honorably serving the community and successfully leading the County Park Department. Tim and his wife, Denise, will be moving to Michigan where he has accepted the position of Superintendent of the Ingham County Park system near Lansing.

Tim’s legacy with the La Porte County Park Department is far-reaching. He has guided the growth and development of the system which includes 4 major properties (Luhr, Creek Ridge, Bluhm, and Red Mill), and 3 undeveloped parcels (Kankakee, Sebert, and Menkes). He will be sorely missed, and we wish Tim and his family much success with his new job and community.

On the bright side, Tim leaves having developed a strong department with experienced and talented staff, a long range plan, a supportive Park Board, lots of wonderful volunteers, and a financial partner with the County Park Foundation. Through his hard work, talent, and dedication to planning and forming partnerships, Tim has helped bring nearly $6 million dollars worth of grants, donations, and matching funds to the county park system. With the cooperation of county government, Tim has been insistent about the frugal and wise use of public dollars. Our County parks are the envy of colleagues around the state, having won numerous awards and honors.

Tim Morgan has been the heart of the La Porte County Park Department for over 2 decades. We are sorry to see him leave, but are encouraged by his legacy and vow to move forward to make our parks even better. Thanks, Tim & Denise, and good luck in the future.
