The Winners of the La Porte County Historical Society’s Photo Contest Announced!

LPC-Historical-Society-Photo-CONTEST-WINNERSRecently, the La Porte County Historical Society held a Historic Structures Photo Contest in conjunction with the Indiana DNR. The photo entries were judged by Photographer, Bob Wellinski, County Historian, Fern Eddy Schultz, and South Central art teacher, Dori Huber. The winning entries were then sent to Indianapolis to be judged at the state level.

Winners for La Porte County were:

Third place- Jamie Huss. Her photo was of the Observation Tower in Washington Park in Michigan City.

Second place- Laura Niemiec. Her photo shows the Michigan City Light House at sunset.

First Place- John Cruz. His photo is of the First Congregational Church in Michigan City.

Laura Niemiec’s photo was chosen as Best Artistic by the judges at the State DNR. All twenty-one of the photo entries will be on display at the museum through the end of May. The La Porte County Historical Society Museum is located at 2405 Indiana Avenue in La Porte, and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00A.M. to 4:30P.M..
