The Party Continues at Catch 22 for the October 2013 NWITweetup

One thing is for certain, when you go to a NWITweetup, you never know what you’re about to experience.

They have gone from networking events, to having guest speakers, to going to Railcats games,” said Dave Woodson, co-founder of the networking group.

No two NWITweetups are alike. The venues change, and the attendees change, as well as the agenda for the evening.

Attendees at the October NWITweetup enjoyed great food, drink, and camaraderie at the 18-month old Catch 22 restaurant in Merrillville.

For Nat Finn, the other event co-founder, NWITweetups are a way of taking the online community offline.

It’s about how we use social media, and how we can help each other,” he said. “We often see each other online, and that develops into relationships offline. Tweetups are about ideas and community and growth. It’s a great way to get Lake, Porter and La Porte counties to talk to each other a little more.”

Chris Mahlmann, Publisher of Ideas in Motion Media, said the events are a testament of how social media connects people, and attendees welcome a fun night out.

It’s not about selling anything,” he said. “It’s low key.”

More people see you on social media than they see you on a billboard on Route 30,” said Jason Evans, owner of Catch 22 and supporter of the NWITweetups. “How do you not embrace it?
