The La Porte County Family YMCA Child Care and Learning Center Reaccreditation

fillerIt is with great pleasure we announce that our state licensed, Level 4 Paths To Quality rated Childcare and Learning Center has once again been reaccredited for another three years by the National Early Childhood Accreditation Program (NECPA). Many facets of our program are reviewed and observed during the reaccreditation process. They assess quality in the areas of adult and child interaction, staff framing, health and safety; physical environment, administration, and parent and community relationships. A strong emphasis is placed on current developments in health and safety, brain research and risk management. The NECPA Commission is dedicated to promoting high quality early childhood programs across the country and internationally.

In the notice of reaccreditation, NECPA commended our Center for achieving full accreditation. Adding that this achievement highlights the dedication of our program to high quality early childhood care and education. Our Y Childcare and Learning Center continues to be a part of a select group of early childhood care and education programs nationwide and internationally that have shown an exceptional commitment to professional and programmatic quality through accreditation.

La Porte County Family YMCA Executive Director, Cindy Berchem stated, "At the Y, we believe every child should be given the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Our Y is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment for all children in our care. Accreditation requires a large commitment of staff hours and financial resources but at the La Porte County Family YMCA, we believe our Y kids are worth the investment of time and resources. Our staff is dedicated to the development and well-being of all the children we care for in our programs."

Berchem recognizes and thanks all of the staff that worked so hard to receive this reaccreditation. She commends Childcare and Learning Center Director Courtney Eickmann, Childcare and Learning Coordinator Center Liliana Ake and all the teachers, assistants and support staff for their dedication and commitment to children.

The Y Childcare and Learning Center provides care for children, ages 6 weeks through kindergarten. The Center currently has openings in some classes.
