April 3rd Harmony House CASA will be hosting a press con-ference. We will be placing silhouettes on the court house lawn to help raise awareness about child abuse. The press conference will take place at 9:00.
April 12th We will be partnering with PNC to host BIG MAMA’S CHAIR. This free workshop will take place at PNC from 1:00-3:00. Please RSVP for this event by April 8th.
April 16th The Department of Chil-dren’s Services (DCS) will hosting a candle-light vigil at Washing-ton Park. The vigil will begin at 6:00.
April 17th We will be taking part in the walk to Prevent Child Abuse. This walk starts at the First UMC on Michigan Ave in LaPorte at 5:30 and ends at the court house.
April 25th Harmony House CASA will be hosting our annual Advocate of the Year Award Banquet. The dinner will be held at the Potawatomi Country Club in Michigan City. More details to come on this fun event!
April 27th We will be taking part in the AS-NCI Autism Walk. The walk is from 9:00-12:00. Look for us there!
CASA DAY
Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers from all over Indiana attended CASA Day March 4th at the Indiana State House. Every day these volun-teers are the voice for abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system and today they were their voice at the State House.
There are nearly 3,500 CASA volunteers in 73 Indiana counties advocat-ing on behalf of 18,699 abused and neglected children. In La Porte County there are 60 CASA Volunteers representing 165 abused and neglected children.
Superhero Bowl-A-Thon
We had "super" fun at our Superhero Bowl-A-Thon held at Michigan City Lanes on February 23,2013! We had more than 70 peo-ple in attendance and raised over $4600.00!!!! Thanks to all our "Superhero's"!
In March We Said Goodbye to Rachelle and Hello to Lindsay!
After 9 years we said a sad good bye to Rachelle Goeheen. We also wel-comed Lindsay Malik as our new CASA Program Director. Lindsay was a CASA before she became our new director. Prior to coming to Harmony House she did case man-agement for Family Court at the LaPorte County Courthouse.
