Sunset Grille brings more than meals to July season

With summer in full swing, finding ways to fill the evening is a must. That could be eating a delicious meal, spending time with friends, listening to live music, or even just watching the sunset on a warm night. Luckily for Region residents, Sunset Grille is finding a way to bring a whole month of fun-filled activities to its beachside location this July.

Sunset Grille is the perfect place to stop for lunch while at the lakefront or to spend the evening watching the sun go down over the horizon. Its location along the beach provides guests with convenient access to easy-to-eat beach treats, and the rooftop cantina that opens at 4 p.m. offers an incredible view across Lake Michigan. It also makes the perfect venue for live acoustic sets while guests eat.

Throughout the month of July, Sunset Grille is hosting biweekly live concerts for its rooftop cantina guests during the evenings. Every Sunday and Tuesday beginning July 2, Sunset Grille will be welcoming a different local artist or band to perform for the Region starting with the blues/rock fusion St. James Band. Bands typically perform from 6 to 8 p.m.

A full line-up of July’s concerts can be found below:

July 2 - St. James Band

July 9 - Quinn Guillermo

July 11 - Kasim Whiting

July 16 - Frank Ruvoli

July 18 - Chris Burch

July 23 - Neek

July 25 - Shane Lindeman

For guests looking for something a bit more interactive, Wednesday nights at Sunset Grille are set aside for karaoke with local musicians Gary Roadarmel, Kyla Webb, and Abigail Ehlers. It’s the perfect opportunity to have some of Sunset Grille’s signature cocktails and flaunt your singing chops for the lakefront and beyond.

Like the concerts, the karaoke nights happen at Sunset Grille’s rooftop cantina, meaning guests can immerse themselves in both beautiful sights and sounds as they enjoy their dinner with friends. Karaoke begins at 6 p.m.

A full line-up of July’s karaoke nights can be found below:

July 5 - Karaoke with Abigail Ehlers

July 12 - Karaoke with Kyla Webb

July 19 - Karaoke with Gary Roadarmel

July 26 - Karaoke with Abigail Ehlers

Of course, while Sunset Grille makes an excellent music space, one of the beachside concession’s main appeals is the selection of beach food and drinks on offer. The freshly made cuisine includes snacks like mozzarella sticks and french fries as well as more substantial eats like burgers (vegan and vegetarian options available), hot dogs, and sandwiches. Additionally, enjoy a lunch and dinner buffet on Fridays and Saturdays, offering a diverse selection of victuals for beachgoers.

Finally, for people just wondering what Sunset Grille has to offer, come check out the July 4th Fireworks Party this Tuesday at 4 p.m. This ticketed event will feature live music by Soul Shine, a cash bar, and food provided by Sunset Grille. All proceeds from the party go towards the Michigan City Public Art Committee’s mission of acquiring and displaying art across Michigan City. It offers interested parties the perfect chance to try Sunset Grille for themselves while getting involved with the larger community around the restaurant.

The next time you’re on Lake Michigan, stop by one of Sunset Grille’s fun events this July to enjoy some food, music, and the beautiful atmosphere of community camaraderie.
