Student Artists Wanted for Tour de La Porte Award Contest

The La Porte Hospital Foundation is looking for student artists to design an award for half-marathon runners at this year’s Tour de La Porte.

The 11th Annual Tour de La Porte will be on Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Aug. 26 at Soldiers Memorial Park in La Porte. Tour de La Porte includes several different competitive and casual bike, run and walk events for the entire family. However, the award art contest will focus solely on the half-marathon 21K chip-timed competitive run. For more information on the entire Tour de La Porte event, visit tourdelaporte.com.

Awards will be given to the top three half-marathon finishers in each age category. The award art contest is open to all first- through 12th-graders. One winning design will be chosen from an elementary school, middle/junior high school and high school submission.

Judges will choose the winning designs based on the connection their artwork has to the cause of Tour de La Porte. For more information on how proceeds benefit local patients with cancer and their families, visit tourdelaporte.org/pages/view/About_the_Tour.

The winning designs will also be used for various event promotional items including, but not limited to, online and social media campaigns as well as day-of printed displays.

Interested student artists are asked to submit their hand-drawn design to the Foundation, 1007 Lincolnway, La Porte, IN 46350. All submissions must include a name and grade (as of fall 2012) on the back in order to be judged anonymously. All submissions are due by Friday, July 6 with the winners notified sometime mid-July.
