Steve’s Deep Cuts: Cheers for Beers

Deepcuts12April 7, 2016 was National Beer Day. Honestly, it’s a very historic day for a number of reasons, but you just want me to talk about beer so let’s just talk about beer.

I love beer, and so do you.

Maybe not you, specifically, but you as the large reading audience - yes, you love beer. If you didn’t love beer then you as a whole wouldn’t consume 6.25 billion gallons of it annually.

Here in Northwest Indiana, we love our beer, and more and more, as Regionites often do, we’re deciding we don’t want our beer imported from fancy places like Germany, Spain, and New Jersey. No, we want our beer made in Indiana, and if at all possible, right here in The Region.

And with this recent wave in Region brews, coupled with the recently passed National Beer Day, I figured there’s no better time than now to use these two perfectly good excuses to talk about a subject I was going to write about anyway this week…

Beer, this Deep Cuts is for you.

“Here Comes The Sun King”:

Our friends at Indiana Beverage and 219 Beer recently partnered with two great breweries in the past month. One of those two breweries just happened to be an Indiana staple: Sun King from Indianapolis.

“Finally, a Trail Made for Me”:

With all these great new breweries popping up around Northwest Indiana, it was only natural that someone put them all in one place online for people to discover. That someone is the South Shore CVA.

I am forever grateful.

“Beer Puts People to Work”:

Speaking of beer, did you know that Indiana Beverage is one of the largest providers of jobs for people trying to pay their way through college? Now you do.

“Beer? Wine? Wine-not both?”:

That’s a bad pun. It’s horrible. But I am leaving it in. I have been to my share of beer fests, and I have been to my share of wine fests, but shoutout to the Duneland Chamber of Commerce for realizing you can successfully do both at the same time.

Hey, lookie there… it’s 5:00.

Deep Cuts, out.
