Purdue University Northwest education student Rachel Pauer of Hebron is among 200 Indiana post-secondary students to receive the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship as selected by the Indiana Commissioner for Higher Education.
“This scholarship reflects the appreciation we have for those pursuing a career in teaching – a critical and unique profession impacting the lives of every young Hoosier,” Indiana House of Representatives Speaker Brian Bosma (R-Indianapolis), author of the legislation creating the scholarship, said.
A commitment to teach Each scholarship recipient will receive up to $7,500 annually and up to $30,000 in total scholarship assistance in response to a commitment to teach in Indiana for at least five years after earning a baccalaureate degree.
Selection was based on each student’s academic achievement, an educator nomination and an in-person interview. To continue earning the scholarship, students must earn at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least 30 credit hour per academic year.
