McGivney Council 8082 of the Dyer Knights of Columbus present a check for $1,000, part of the proceeds derived from a recent Paczki Ball event, to representatives of St. Monica Home, which is on the campus of Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Dyer.

Shown (from left) are council members Rich Bazant and Ed Hebda (grand knight); Liz Guzman-Arredondo, St. Monica manager; John Mentgen, hospital executive vice president and chief operating officer; Suzanne Davidson, hospital director of medical-surgery and women and children’s services; Marla Hoyer-Lareau, hospital chief nursing officer and vice president of patient services; and Tom Gryzbek, hospital president. Bazant said St. Monica was chosen for the donation because “the council believes it should do as much as it can to benefit organizations in Dyer.”

Gryzbek thanked the knights for the gift, adding, “You are making an important impact on lives here and God will bless you for it.” St. Monica Home, which was established in 1994, offers a medically sound and emotionally healthy residential environment for women aged 12 to 21, who are awaiting the birth of a child or who have recently given birth. Residents, whose average length of stay is nine months, learn positive relationships and parenting skills under the guidance of experienced resident advisers.
