St. Mary’s School in Crown Point to Continue In-Person Education

St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point will remain open for in-person education.  Schools throughout Northwest Indiana have made the difficult decision to move to virtual learning, but St. Mary’s principal, Tom Ruiz remains optimistic saying, “I think we all feel very blessed to offer in-person learning at this time.  Our students, staff, and parents have all worked very hard to be in this position.  At this very moment, we do not have a single Covid positive case amongst our in-person students and staff.  That could change at any moment, but from the time we opened on August 13th, we’ve seen relatively few cases.  Our re-entry team, which includes our school nurse, several teachers, my assistant principal, a member of our parish leadership team, and I have been meeting regularly to assess our situation.  For now, we’re grateful to welcome our students into our building every day.”

St. Mary’s School is currently looking for substitute teachers to bolster its staff.  Those interested in substitute teaching should call the school’s secretary, Mrs. Maria Wallace at 663-0676.
