St-Margaret-Health-Dyer-Breast-Center-Offers-Expanded-Full-Scope-of-ServicesThe Rev. Henry Sequeira, of the Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Dyer Spiritual Care Services department, sprinkles with holy water the first of numerous rooms located in the hospital’s newly renovated Breast Center, during a packed blessing and dedication ceremony on May 19. In the last year, the Breast Center has expanded from offering only mammography services to offering a full range of comprehensive programs. “A board-certified, fellowship-trained female breast radiologist, Dr. Sasmita Misra, joined our facility in November 2012. In November 2014, the program received accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, which is administered by the American College of Surgeons,” said Cindy Duran, center director.

“We are the only Franciscan Alliance facility in the area with this accreditation.” The program, also accredited by the American College of Radiology, includes 3D (tomosynthesis) and 2D (digital) mammograms for screening and diagnostic evaluation, as well as stereotactic-guided breast biopsy, ultrasound-guided breast imaging and biopsy, and MRI-guided breast imaging and biopsy. A breast health nurse navigator provides educational information to patients and their families and assists with scheduling and coordination of services.
