On Wednesday, April 17, 16 students were inducted into the Springfield Chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society, joining 17 fourth and fifth graders who were inducted last year. Michigan City Mayor Ron Meer was the featured speaker at this year's induction, which included a special candle lighting ceremony.
Springfield's Honor Society is chosen from among students in grades 3-5 who have two semesters of a 3.4 or higher GPA and have demonstrated excellent citizenship skills.
