Spirit of Women Brings a Wealth of Health Information to Community

Franciscan Alliance’s Spirit of Women program offered a free Little Black Dress health event from 6 to 9 p.m. on November 7 at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, IN.

“Just like the classic little black dress, vibrant health is always in style. Put on your favorite black attire and we’ll show you how good health is your best accessory,” said Amy Delahunty, Franciscan Alliance Regional Outreach and Wellness Specialist.

The program included Dessert with the Docs, an informal question-and-answer session with physicians and Speed Date the Doctors, which allowed participants to discuss health issues with a variety of specialists. Shopping, health screenings, refreshments, raffle prizes and gifts were also offered.

“I came last year and found the event to be a really neat experience and very informative. It is also always fun to have a girl’s night out,” said guest Pat Miller as she began to walk from booth to booth.

Attendees were able to get foot, varicose vein, and skin cancer screenings, as well as mammograms.

“The most interesting part for me was getting the foot screening because I had never been to a podiatrist before. I am also looking forward to getting screened for skin cancer,” said MariAnn Reach, who had been enjoying everything the evening had to offer with a few other friends.

Spirit of Women is a health and wellness program designed to educate, motivate, and inspire women to make healthy lifestyle choices.
