South Shore Regional Car Show to Kick Off Air Show Weekend

South-Shore-Air-Show-Pigs-FlyThe South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority and Fair Oaks Farms will be hosting the South Shore Regional Car Show, sponsored by Schepel Buick GMC Cadillac, to kick off the 2014 South Shore Air Show. On Thursday, July 10, hundreds of classic and antique cars will take over Fair Oaks Farms for a unique car show experience.

Categories include Pre-WWII (1945 and earlier), antique cars (1945-1964), classic cars (1965-1994), muscle cars (American-made 1949-1994), hot rods (1923-1948, open and closed), custom cars (cars with four or more major modifications), modern American cars (1995-present), modern import cars (1980-present), trucks (pre-1965 or 1965-present), stock Corvettes, modified Corvettes, custom bikes (both domestic and import), and antique tractors.

Five “Best of Class” awards will be given in each category, as well as specialty awards for a total of 90 awards. Specialty awards include Best of Show, People’s Choice, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Paint, Best Custom, Most Patriotic and Club Participation.

Cost to participate is $20 if pre-registered and includes a T-shirt and dash plaque. Day-of registration will be $20, and T-shirts will be sold separately. Dash plaques will be available while supplies last for day-of registrants. Registration is from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and awards begin at 7:30 p.m.

While at the car show, attendees can also enjoy a DJ and music, food vendors, a beer garden and Fair Oaks Farms attractions. Spectator admission is a $2 donation or one canned good, with all proceeds benefitting the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. For each $2 donation or one canned good, a raffle ticket will be given. Additional raffle tickets will be given for higher donations or more canned goods: Two raffle tickets for $5 or three canned goods; five raffle tickets for $10 or five canned goods; and ten raffle tickets for $20 or more or ten or more canned goods. Raffle prizes will be awarded every half hour from 4:00 p.m. through 7:30 p.m.
