South Central Announces Students of the Month for September 2013

South-Central-LogoSouth Central Junior-Senior High School is proud to announce two outstanding students who have earned the title of Student of the Month for the month of September: Dylan Hayes and Abigail Gibbs.

Dylan Hayes has been named junior high Student of the Month by German teacher Jackie Sterling. Dylan is the son of Anna Hegedus and Marty Hayes of Union Mills. Dylan was chosen to be Student of the Month for his academic performance, constant participation, and positive attitude. Dylan always comes into the classroom smiling and is active in class discussions and activities. After just a few weeks in German class, he can already understand and answer many questions and can carry out short conversations with ease. Dylan contributes positively to the classroom environment and is a pleasure to have in class.

Abigail Gibbs has been named senior high Student of the Month by Spanish teacher Rebecca McCray. Abigail is the daughter of Gretchen and David Gibbs of Union Mills. Abby is currently a Spanish 3 student and has been very dedicated to her studies. In the past year she has made great progress in her language skills. She has consistently performed at an advanced level and is enthusiastic while doing so. This is her third year in Spanish Club and she uses any opportunity she can to use her knowledge of the language and culture outside of the classroom. She has plans of going to the Dominican Republic this summer and is excited to take her Spanish skills with her.

The Student of the month program recognizes young people at South Central who are role models, leaders, and dedicated and conscientious students. Our selected students are motivated leaders and role models for the school and community, set a positive example by word, deed, and appearance, have a positive attitude, and set a positive example for academic achievement in classroom studies. Students of the Month and their families will be formally recognized at the end of the school year.
