It all began with plans and a lot of hard work to organize a huge school-wide reunion last fall and ended with the South Central Alumni Reunion Committee, along with alumni members, deciding to begin a hopefully long-standing tradition of awarding an annual scholarship to a graduating senior.
A Scholarship Committee was form and applications were made available to all graduating seniors. The topic for the scholarship essay was “how your time at SC and living in our community has influenced your past and present and how it will influence your future after graduation”. As committee members reviewed the applications and read the essays aloud to each other, all agreed with what these “young adults” wrote and was impressed with all of the applicants.
The committee would like to thank all of the South Central seniors who applied this year and is honored to announce Rachael Bailey as this year’s Scholarship winner. Rachael has worked extremely hard to accomplish her goals and is impressive beyond measure. While participating in many extra-curricular activities at school, she took advanced classes and is graduating a year ahead of the rest in her class, a first in the history of South Central. As she continues her studies at Valparaiso University, the committee wishes her nothing but the best and much success!
