Solid Waste District Lend-A-Bin Program

Lend-A-Bin-ProgramPublic events can produce a lot of waste – from disposable cups, plates and silverware to leftover food. But the La Porte County Solid Waste District has a way to help groups lessen that impact!

Recycling stands are available for free to any group holding a public event in La Porte County through the Solid Waste District’s Lend-A-Bin program.

We’ve had fire departments, school districts, 5K races and popular festivals all use these bins,” said Clay Turner, executive director. “It’s a great way to keep plastic, metal and glass drink containers out of our landfills. This way they’ll be made into something new instead of just becoming waste.

The ClearStream bins are wire stands with plastic tops that are made for outdoor and indoor use. The District will provide trash bags along with the bins, as well as signage (if needed). All a group has to do is recycle what they collect, either in the Solid Waste District’s public recycling bins or at home!

Groups are responsible for picking up and bringing back the bins. They must call to reserve bins at least 24 hours before their event.

Please contact the Solid Waste District at (219) 326-0014 to find out more about the Lend-a-Bin program and reserve your recycling bins today.
