ShareFest 2014: Over 150 Volunteers Accomplish Over 30 Projects

2014-sharefest-01The Churches of LaPorte got out to put their faith in action at Sharefest 2014. We started on the steps of the LaPorte City Hall for a brief opening orientation and prayer. At 8:30am, the volunteers were released serve the city. Sharefest is a “day of sharing” by the churches and organizations of the community.

A big thanks to Brian Niksch, Superintendent of the LaPorte Parks Dept and their staff for preparing many of the day’s projects. Also a big thanks to Allen Holt, from Real Services, who helped us connect to some needy homeowners. We appreciate our partnership with the City of LaPorte and Real Services.

The following projects and groups served during Sharefest:

Door Village United Methodist Church served helped at a Real Services home and spread mulch at Koomler Park, The River Christian Fellowship cleaned up the Skate Park at Fox Park, Salem United Methodist Church helped a Real Services Homeowner, Granger Community Church spread mulch at Rees Park and at the Civic and also helped a homeowner with Spring Cleaning. , First Church of God cleaned up at Craven’s Pond., First United Methodist Church helped five homeowners for Spring Cleaning yardwork, IU Health Chaplains helped a homeowner with fix up and clean up projects. Bethany Lutheran Church built a Ramp for a handicapped person at their home and picked up trash in a four block radius of their church. Liberty Bible Church volunteers helped build dugouts at Scharf Field, spread mulch at Koomler Park and Scharf Field and helped two Real Services Homeowners. LaPorte Assembly of God removed the sod from the baseball field at Fox Park so that the Parks Department can reclaim that field. They also spread much at Aliese Park and helped a Real Services Homeowner. Crossroad Christian Center helped a Real Services Homeowner and Presbyterian Church of LaPorte spread mulch at Clark Park. Volunteers also painted the picnic tables at Scharf Field. Campus Life/Youth for Christ volunteers serves at two Real Service homes.
