Share-Your-Input-with-the-Lake-Michigan-Gateway-Implementation-Strategy-Planning-TeamThe public is invited to attend a public open house conducted by the Lake Michigan Gateway Implementation Strategy planning team between 6:30 and 8:30pm on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the Michigan City Senior Center, 2 on the Lake, Michigan City, Indiana.

The community is encouraged to meet with the consultant, Hitchcock Design Group, and Project Steering Committee members, one-on-one, in an informal setting, to discuss the preliminary gateway implementation strategy. City representatives and Hitchcock Design Group will make a brief presentation of their preliminary recommendations at 7:00pm. After the presentation, the consultant and Project Steering Committee members will be available to discuss the project and receive public input.

The purpose of this project is to help Michigan City re-establish itself as Indiana’s Great Lakefront Destination Community by capitalizing on the extraordinary potential of the diamond-shaped, lakefront gateway study area bounded by the lakefront, the Blue Chip Casino, the downtown and the Lighthouse Premium Outlets. With a focus on the execution of priority projects, the strategy will include a series of public improvements and initiatives intended to create more attractions, improve the visitor experience, and stimulate private investment in Michigan City producing more jobs and more tax revenue. The city expects the consultant’s services and the delivery of the final strategy document to be completed late this spring.
