The community is encouraged to meet with the consultant, Hitchcock Design Group, and Project Steering Committee members, one-on-one, in an informal setting, to discuss the preliminary gateway implementation strategy. City representatives and Hitchcock Design Group will make a brief presentation of their preliminary recommendations at 7:00pm. After the presentation, the consultant and Project Steering Committee members will be available to discuss the project and receive public input.

The purpose of this project is to help Michigan City re-establish itself as Indiana’s Great Lakefront Destination Community by capitalizing on the extraordinary potential of the diamond-shaped, lakefront gateway study area bounded by the lakefront, the Blue Chip Casino, the downtown and the Lighthouse Premium Outlets. With a focus on the execution of priority projects, the strategy will include a series of public improvements and initiatives intended to create more attractions, improve the visitor experience, and stimulate private investment in Michigan City producing more jobs and more tax revenue. The city expects the consultant’s services to be completed this spring.
