Much of the state is at risk of seeing strong to severe thunderstorms through Wednesday evening. Damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, flooding, lightning and even tornadoes are possible with these storms.
The National Weather Service says the threat for severe weather will be highest during late Wednesday morning through afternoon for northern and central Indiana, while the threat will linger through the evening for southern Indiana.
Since many residents will be at work during this time, it’s important to know where to take shelter at the workplace. Check to see if there’s a severe weather plan, and identify an interior area, away from windows to take shelter.
Also, families should talk about how they will communicate that they’re safe if severe weather strikes. Posting to social media or designating an out of town contact are all good ways to let everyone know they’re OK.
Charge all electronic devices fully before going to bed. If devices such as phones and laptops are charging overnight, be sure they are plugged into a surge protector.
Consider bringing in any outdoor furniture or items tonight that may blow away and damage property.
